Dreaming is believing

by Astrid Clarizza on 09/28/2012

It’s been a while since I wrote my last blog post. All caused by assignments that need to be done. Finally I can live freely without assignment, exceptional for 1 left assignment which I don’t know how to make it done dearest animation assignment L but its okay since the due date is not close enough lol. Frankly I’m not typical person to work day-1 or day-2. It would be very nice if I finished the assignment way before the due date but it’s acceptable for some cases. Anyway, after not writing anything for quiet long time, I have so many things to be talked with you guys. But the newest topic I want to share with you is about dreams. Why I talk about dreams? It starts to pop out in my mind after I change my banner on my Google plus account. In every social media that I have, all my banner is “dreamy but enthusiastic.” Is there any of you wondering what this mean? Why I choose that? Talking about this I start to wondering why I choose this.

I still remember I have so many dreams when I was a little. What are your dreams when you were you just a little boy or  girl? Does it changed when you got older? Have you tried or even dare to pursue those dreams? Have you done enough to say that we tried? Yes, there’re so many questions about it. But all we know that there’s so little time to make it real.

Do you still remember the days when we use to say that we want to be an astronaut, teacher, doctor, lawyer, or maybe president? It must be a long time ago when we’re just kids on the neighborhood  Our parents would be excited and tried telling us that if we really want to reach our dreams, we should never stop fighting for it because everything is possible. Then, starting from that day you told them you wanted to be a doctor, lawyer, scientist or an astronaut. When we’re at our teen years, as we started growing up and being exposed to media, entertainment and technology thus the plans regarding the future changes. Dreams being altered because of the environment or being replaced because of the trends or demands of this generation we have. The point is, do we really dream of being “it”? Or we are just being pushed on what our society define as cool? When we’re on our twenties, In this stage, we realize that the first two stages above is somewhat far-fetched and unrealistic. So many things happened, choices were made, situation changed and opportunity passed so quickly that we haven’t even got the chance to chase. Keeping your dreams behind and living life for the sake of surviving that’s what left. We even tried going back to the dreams we created when we are 6 years old, but its almost close to  the “its all to late” kind of things.

Did you know that it takes more than 1,500 hours a year to climb to the top 10% and make your dreams come true? It’s an extra 4 hours per day. Read this again: an extra 4 hours per day. But how many days will it take at that extra 4 hours a day? 2,500 days . . . give or take a day. And number of years? An average of 7 years.

Experiences, dreams and goals are words that are expected to be co-related and somehow hitting a similar or a single point in our lives. Since God created our lives as a gift, He gave us freedom to manipulate and drive our own destiny to wherever and whatever we wish to be. But the road to the future isn’t really making it easy. Time is the currency you pay for dream achievement(Remember movie “the time” starred JT and Amanda?) There is no other way. There are no overnight successes. Dream achievement comes after years spent practicing your craft passionately over and over until it’s second nature. For every dream, there is a price you must pay, in full and in advance, before that dream can come true. Many dreamers don’t want to hear this. They want their dream to come true the minute they decide on it. It’s like they want some sort of McD drive-through to magically appear so they can order up a perfect life in less time than it takes or order a coke. I’m here to tell you it doesn’t work that way. Don’t get me wrong for stating this. You have to pay your dues. I was thinking and browsing the best bloggers in 2012. They stated that at least 3 years if you blog every day, maybe longer, until they got it. Its quiet long time, isnt it? It’s important to understand that success takes time.  The definition of self-discipline is, “Do what you should do when you should do it, whether you want to or not.”And that’s the promise you must make to yourself when you decide you are going to make your dream come true. You must look at your face in the mirror and tell yourself that you will do what you should do when you are suppose to do it, whether you feel like it or not. You must resolve to do whatever it takes, that you will not quit even if it takes 15 years.

To achieve something you have never achieved before, you must do something you have never done before. You must become someone you have never been before. Whatever you want, you will have to pay a price measured in terms of sacrifice, time, effort and personal discipline. Decide what it is and start paying that price today.

Your ability to pay the price of time, in advance, and to continue paying it until you achieve your dream, is the right mindset of a successful dreamer. Without it, you should never begin working on your dream. It will just be a colossal waste of time. Time will pass whether you work on your dream or not, but think about how much richer your life could be if you spent just 2 hours a day on improving something in your life. Imagine where your life would be in a year?

As the time flies by, maybe we shouldn’t be thinking in terms of bucket list but in terms of picking one thing we are willing to work on maybe just for two hours a day. Imagine the stories we could tell. While you set your dreams, make an effort enthusiastically to pursue it! Live your life to the fullest! Appreciate what we have had and strive to be better. There’s no room for crying and blaming. It’s all about acting upon deciding while giving our very best and not regretting for trying. Time just might surprise you in a good way!

Stay dreamy and enthusiastic

XOXO
